Welcome to 311Online, a new way to access nonemergency public information. You can ask any question, request any service, find any public document, contact any public official, and comment on any entry or answer. If you are a public official, you can log in and provide answers, links, and other public information. If you are a member of the public, this site is your portal to every level of local, regional, and state government. And the basic service is completely free.

Right now this is limited to the State of New Jersey and the towns that we have covered, but we’ll be adding more locations on an ongoing basis.

If you are looking for federal information, try USA.gov and Answers.USA.gov.

This site is designed to provide you with information, get answers to your questions, and connect you directly with government, in your town, county, and state.

How we do this is very simple.

There is a wealth of information available on the site, organized from an ordinary citizen’s viewpoint, with links to other resources.

Most importantly, however, there is an opportunity for you to ask questions and get answers from the right people inside and outside of government — your elected representatives, of course, but just as importantly everyone (or nearly everyone) who works for them.

You can also ask us to help get you the right answers. For businesses this service is provided on a cost-effective basis: we can help you navigate government regulations, apply for permits, and do business with municipalities and state agencies. For individuals we offer a two-tiered service: free and a fee-based premium service. Free assistance is available to all those requesting it on a first-come, first-serve basis to the extent of our capacity, and we are working with municipal, county, and state government agencies to expand our ability to respond to your needs.
